If you’re a fan of celebrity chefs or just food in general, then you’ve probably heard of Food Network’s “Tournament of Champions”. For five years, the yearly tournament has put some of the best chefs in the world in head-to-head competition. Hosted by Guy Fieri, the competition has awarded four chefs the TOC championship title: Brooke Williamson, Maneet Chauhan, Tiffani Faison, and Mei Lin. This year, in the tournament’s sixth season, all four previous champions have decided to sit out the competition. This means that no matter what, we are guaranteed a brand-new TOC Champion, and there are plenty of chefs who have been waiting to reach the mountaintop. The newest season premiered on March 2, 2025, and saw 32 chefs compete to crown an all-new champion and etch their name in culinary history.

Since none of the previous champions competed this year, there are plenty of competitors who were looking to finally get the proverbial monkey off their backs. This includes long-time fan favorites Antonia Lofaso and Jet Tila. Jet has famously made the last 4 Final Fours, never being able to bring home the championship, and as the show has always been one by a woman, many thought he may be the first male to win. Antonia is the “Warrior Princess” who has always competed on the show in chucks, has made the final multiple times, and has been bested each time. With the competition including new faces and others who have come close to winning, their journey to the finale would not be an easy one.

In round one, Antonia went up against new competitor Maria Mazon, who won her play-in match to face the #1 seed in Antonia. The “Warrior Princess” stepped in and took care of business in her signature black chucks, winning 86-82. In the second round, she would take on fellow Italian Rocco DiSpirito, besting him 88-83. It was in this Round where the biggest upset of the tournament happened as Jet Tila was beaten by Joe Sasto, denying us a Jet vs. Antonia rematch from last year’s Final Four. In the Quarterfinals, Antonia took on powerhouse chef Kevin Lee, winning a close 88-85 matchup. In the Final Four, perhaps the biggest matchup took place when Antonia faced off against Britt Rescigno, and it did not disappoint as the two chefs tied with 82 points apiece. Antonia would move on by a tie-breaker to the championship match between her and first-time competitor Sara Bradley. In an 88-82 win, Antonia would finally raise the championship belt while wearing her chucks, finally achieving the dream she had been chasing for six years!

This show is the combination of perfect concept and brilliant execution that sucks you in with the amazing talent and great stakes. With a talent pool that includes many of the best chefs in the world competing and judging, this competition feels like it is the Super Bowl of cooking, and everyone involved treats it like the biggest food competition there is. Watching these world-class culinary minds work out how to create dishes from whatever the randomizer doles out is always exciting if you’re a fan of cooking, and seeing two champions proudly wearing chucks is a sight for chucks fans!
